AD1 nearly halves sentences imposed following CAL client's convictions for attempted murder and burglary

Following his separate convictions for attempted second degree murder and first-degree burglary, NY Supreme Court sentenced Mr. W to consecutive sentences of five years and six years. AD1 found the sentences excessive due to CAL’s advocacy, including evidence of Mr. W’s good reputation in his school and community and his significant efforts at rehabilitation. Over a lengthy dissent from Justice Friedman, AD1 reduced the sentences by directing that they run concurrently, rather than consecutively. CAL attorney Liz Vasily represented Mr. W on appeal.
